Abstract:
"This talk is based on the research I have conducted in working on my book manuscript, titled "Fetishizing the Tactical." My research asks and answers the question of how US culture came to accept permanent, unwinnable wars as a paradigm. In this talk, I will address how US popular culture mirrors efforts by various Presidential administrations to authorize modes of violence that break the law in order to secure the society, providing some examples and situating these currents in political theories of the state." - Dr. Crane-Seeber
