The Clio Conference Committee is excited to announce the theme of the Conference 2025 as
“The Sleeping Watchdog: How Misinformation Spreads In Politics”
On the 2nd of May the Conference brings together international professionals and academics from the field of IR with expertise on information and misinformation in all areas of politics; from elections, to conflicts or social media. The program of the day will touch upon big questions, such as who governs information and how misinformation can be combated. It is a great occasion for anyone interested in politics, media, and the most salient issues facing our ever-changing world, to learn more and connect with professionals.
Participants are invited to partake in a panel discussion with Q&A in the morning and in the afternoon can choose between workshops going more into depth on single issues. Afterwards there is a brilliant opportunity to continue networking with the speakers and fellow students over some drinks.
The panel discussion will be led by Master of Ceremonies Dr Tom Casier, professor at the University of Groningen, where he holds the Chair in Global Politics of Europe. His research focuses mainly on Russian foreign policy, EU–Russia relations, and the EU and its eastern neighbours. More speakers will be announced as the conference approaches.
Sign ups are open to Clio members as well as anyone else interested. FOR NON MEMBERS, please sign up HERE!
The Conference Committee, consisting of Alva Nordman, Juliette Beguin, Adian van den Ouden, Mika Stoop, Elizabeth Winterhalter, Noa Pazos Aniorte, Niko Talvitie and Daniël Medema is proud of the months of hard work behind the event. We look forward to seeing you all there!
