Malawi, a small country in southeast Africa with a lake the size of the Netherlands, has declared a national disaster in areas hit by Cyclone Ana. The tropical storm killed at least 19 people in the country and left an estimated 50.000 families homeless. Cyclone Ana is not an isolated incident, but rather fits into a series of challenges Malawi has had to face over the past years.
